Weekend Casual

Do you ever feel like weekends are more work than your actual week? That’s how last weekend felt to me. In fact, I woke up this morning convinced it was Monday!

It was ridiculously hot yesterday and I was out all day looking for school supplies, back to school clothes, and getting through all my other errands, so I figured that casual and comfortable was the best way to go. I don’t usually wear jeans in the summer but I inherited this pair in a bag of clothes that a friend of mine sent over after a recent closet purge and decided they looked cute with my white tunic. PS: I love adult hand me downs (especially when they come from stylish friends!)

One of my favorite things about personal style blogs is all of the ideas and inspiration they give everyday people like me. Last week I saw Jessica wear this beautiful and bright dress which provided me with instant inspiration for what to do with my funky, bright skirt. I’ve had this skirt for almost a year now but have never worn it (a common theme with many of the statement pieces I’ve collected over the years). It’s a little long and awkward as a skirt, but worked out perfectly as a dress.

In fact, I liked this look so much that I’ve actually repeated it two days in a row. Yesterday I wore it with a black sleeveless tee. Which look do you prefer? I’m leaning toward the white tee.

Comfy and Casual

Is it just me or does it seem like forever since I posted an outfit pic? I read a how-to post on blogging once that said it is bad form to write a post on why you haven’t posted, but it feels like bad etiquette not to acknowledge an extended absence also. So in short; sorry I’ve been such an inconsistent blogger lately.

This is my outfit from yesterday when we finally experienced a scorching hot summer day and I decided to wear my jeans, go figure! I spent most of the day running around with the kids and getting a start on back to school shopping so it was actually perfect to wear something casual and comfortable. The only downfall to this outfit was that my top kept creeping up and every so often I’d look down and realize that I was wearing a crop top. Those are making a comeback right?

A Walk Down Memory Lane….

30 Jul

Somewhere between the excitement of taking part in my first 30 for 30 challenge and the next 30 days I was starting to believe that my outfits just weren’t “good enough”. But I have to say, going through all of these pictures together and creating this re-cap got me thinking that I didn’t do too bad after all. It wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve done (and some days it wasn’t even fun), but I’m really glad I did it.

My favorite outfits from the challenge were: 4, 9, 13, 20, 22, 27, and 28. In the spirit of being positive I’m not going to tell you my least favorites, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on my 30 for 30 hits and misses!

The End!

25 Jul

That’s a wrap for my first 30 for 30 challenge (insert happy dance here)! I’ve been done for about a week now but I sort of let real life get in the way of keeping my on-line persona updated.  I’m not going to delve into the details of what I’ve been doing (because it wasn’t all that interesting), but I will share my thoughts on the whole 30 for 30 thing in my re-cap post tomorrow.

I realize this outfit has an awful lot of purple going on (anybody else feel like having Kool-aid?) but I’m rather proud of the whole wearing a dress as a skirt thing.

Weather Challenged

According to all my sources on twitter, it is summer in the rest of the country. Sadly though it’s still winter on the we(s)t coast. Which means that the only pair of full length pants I included in my 30 for 30 picks has to work overtime. Yup, I broke out the wide legged jeans again.

Last week Tanvii wrote about skinny jeans vs wide legged, and I have to say that I’m definitely sticking to the flares. What do you prefer?

Is it Summer Yet?
