Nothing to Write Home About

15 Jun

{Cardigan: Gap, White Shirt: George by Walmart, Cropped Pants: Tommy Hillfiger}

{Shoes & Belt: Payless}

Have you ever picked an outfit out of your closet (limited to 25 pieces), gotten dressed, taken your photo, posted it on the internet, and then realized you don’t really like it? I have. (Please see exhibits a-c above if you don’t follow).

After looking at these pictures I realized that I don’t like the fit of these pants, and I should have worn my belt over my cardigan like I did here to avoid the bunching on my shirt. I was so bothered by the little details that I even considered not posting these pictures and just adding a day to the end of the challenge, but somehow that didn’t seem right.

There are no real rules to personal style blogging (that I know of) but I wonder if there is a secret code about bad outfits. Do you permanently delete the images and pretend they didn’t happen? Or do you share your failures and missteps with readers? I’m going to go with the later option, because I’m no fashion expert; just a girl who likes playing dress up and trying new things.

I’m sure that I will have plenty of misses along the way, and I plan to share those here as part of my journey to developing my own signature style. But in anticipation of future outfit related freak outs, I should probably post this message on my full-length mirror: “I didn’t start this blog to post pictures of perfect outfits. It is an experiment in personal style, and a creative outlet for my love of clothes and writing”

Have you ever gotten so wrapped up in an outfit that didn’t quite work that it affected your mood? Do you give clothes that don’t make you feel amazing a second chance? I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

Wondering what all the numbers are about? Get caught up on the 30 for 30 challenge here

    Raj, Nothing is wrong with the outfit! But I know that you like color and maybe this choice today just isn’t colorful enough. As for me my mood changes so often in a day that my outfit will be change sometimes up to 3 times a day!!

    I actually think the belt over the top looks good (and probably better than over the cardigan) but I agree that the pants could be a little more tapered in to match your skinny minny calves. You still look good though!

    At least you were brave enough to go for the cropped pant! I’m scared to death of them! I’m absolutely positive they’ll make me look really short and I’m already short enough as it is.

    I do think the outfit is a little dark. Maybe you could have tried switching out the belt for one that was brighter for that pop of color? Just a thought. 🙂

      Thanks Cortney. I also feel that I look a little cut off in the cropped pant, but I wanted to give it a shot. I agree about the lack of color, the whole look felt a little dull to me to. Definitely could use a hit of bright color through the belt or shoes.
