Fit Factor: My Problem With Pants

If you’ve been watching my blog evolve over the last few months you may have noticed that I rarely wear pants. When I do, they are usually this seriously over-worn pair of jeans or, my wide-legged pair. It’s not that I have anything against pants, they just don’t fit me well. It might sound strange to some people because I’m a pretty small person, but photographs can be deceiving.

Although I have a fairly small waist, my hips (aka: my rear end) are not so proportionate, (translation: I’ve got some junk in the trunk). On Friday evening I went to some local outlet stores and made a serious effort at trying on pants. Not surprisingly, I didn’t find a single pair that fit well. I’ve even tried buying pants that fit across my hips and then altering the waist, but it never seems to work out for me.

I’m going to throw this one out to you, do you have any tips for finding a pair of pants that fits well? Know any brands that size their bottoms for bigger bottoms? Please share your tips and comments!

I have the EXACT same problem, and have become pretty evangelical about Brazilian denim. It’s the end of massive waistband gapping.

I can give rave reviews to Mavi Jeans, which are nearly true-to-fit for my shape, important if you try to buy online: I have a 25-inch waist, but I need a size 32 in most denim brands to accommodate my MUCH larger hips/rear. With Mavi, I’m size 27 and their jeans fit/flatter everywhere off-the-rack. (It’s not about the smaller number, but that the number on the tag more accurately reflects my real measured waistline.)

Thanks so much for the tip! I used to wear Mavi jeans but haven’t bought any since I had my kids. Maybe they will be the solution to my pant woes! I’ll keep you posted.

I know what you mean, I’ve had that problem my entire life. So one night I googled it, thinking I can’t be the only one with this problem. Turns out I wasn’t. There is a brand called “Little in the middle” that makes the most amazing jeans, I honestly almost started crying when I tried on my first pair. They are amazing!

Levis Curive ID are also really great and, since I live in Sweden and need the Little in the middle-jeans to ship over here, a cheaper alternative.

Thanks so much for the tip! I’ll definitely be checking out both of those options. And can I say just how excited I am that my blog is being read by someone in Sweden:)
